The Alcohol and Other Drug Assistance Program for Students (ADAPS)

This free, confidential service provides counseling and information for students concerned about their drinking or use of other drugs, substance use/abuse of a friend or drug or alcohol use in their family.

 

Services Include:

• Consultation and outreach

• Evaluation and assessment

• Individual alcohol/ drug counseling

• Alcohol/other drug awareness groups

• Recovery support groups - For students in recovery to provide support and meet other students in recovery

• Recovery housing - On-campus housing for Rutgers students who are in recovery from a chemical dependency. It is a supportive environment for students who live abstinent from alcohol and other drugs

• Early Recovery Program

• Nicotine Dependence Assessment and Referral

• Adult Children of Alcoholics/Addicts group - For students whose parent, other family members or close friend is an alcoholic or drug addict

Answers from the Rutgers University Health Services’ staff to real questions from students about drugs (both prescription and illegal) and alcohol; this site is moderated by Dr. Edward Lifshitz, Director of Busch-Livingston Health Center.

 

RU SURE? Changing the Culture of College Drinking

A Center for Communication and Health Issues project and campaign which aims to decrease the number of first year students who drink dangerously, decrease misconceptions of binge drinking, reduce alcohol-related violence on campus and create a community coalition dedicated to reducing dangerous drinking. Upper-level communications students and peer educators bring the RU SURE? campaign and message into the first year residence halls each semester.

Alcohol/Drug/Nicotine Assistance Program

 

This free, confidential service provides counseling and information for students concerned about their drinking or use of other drugs, substance use/abuse of a friend or drug or alcohol use in their family.

 

Services Include:

• Individual alcohol / drug / nicotine counseling

• Support counseling for students concerned about another's present use of alcohol or drugs (family member, significant other, friend or peer)

• Support counseling for students who grew up with one or both parents misusing alcohol or drugs

• Student, staff, or faculty consultation

• Student, staff, or faculty outreach
