The CAS Library offers a number of services to its patrons. The collection is available to the public during open hours. Reference materials including some textbooks are available for in-house use. Reference is offered in house, and can be scheduled in advance.

  Borrowing Books  
    Policies for Rutgers affiliates are identical with RUL borrowing policies.
Special guest membership is available for Alcohol Library patrons only. Download CAS policies (PDF).
 
  Library Catalogs  
    Most of the titles from the collection are available online through IRIS, the online catalog of Rutgers University Libraries. (Tip: use the Advanced Search option and in the drop-down menu, choose Library: ALCOHOL or ALCOHOLNJ).
Access to parts of Historical Collection is provided by the Alcohol History Database.
Titles of the reprint and special collections are available from the Alcohol Studies Database.
The card catalog, although no longer maintained, is an excellent source for resources of historical value.
 
  Library Facility  
    Quiet study and reading area is available during open hours. Self-serve photocopier,networked computers, and printers are for public use. Wireless access with NetID only.

  Research Assistance and Reference Services  
    Offered in house at the Information Desk during open hours.Currently reference is provided on substance abuse topics for Rutgers affiliates and patrons of the Alcohol Studies Library. Special appointments with the librarian can be scheduled in advance by email  
  Instruction for Courses  
    One-on-one or small group information sessions on substance abuse resources and bibliographic instruction can also be arranged. Please contact us for details.  
  Document Delivery  
  For the Rutgers community, documents from the CAS Library are available through ILLIAD (Log in with your NetID) in accordance with RUL policies.
Articles from the Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs are available online for non-subscribers for a small fee. Contact us for older articles.
For special requests, such as articles by CAS authors, copies of articles and images from the historical collections, or copies of survey instruments, please contact us.
 
  Interlibrary Loan  
  Titles from the circulating collections can be requested and delivered via interlibrary loan to participating libraries through the Rutgers University Libraries Interlibrary Loan Service.
